The days of letter writing have all but left us. We explore this now antiquated form of self expression combined with music, and revel in the personal stories they reveal. Letters of unrequited love, innocent letters sharing the joy of life’s beauty, letters marking history. They all serve to inspire this concert of personal stories through the most intimate music-making.

A new cross-platform work* with guest artists Red Stitch Actors Theatre
Franz Schubert String Quartet D810 in D minor
Death and the Maiden
*World premiere commissioned by Flinders Quartet with the assistance of the City of Port Philip and Red Stitch Actors Theatre
A new play written in collaboration with Red Stitch Actors Theatre that windows in behind the scenes of a chamber music performance, revealing the delicately structured dynamics that can exist between players as they grapple with the intricacies of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden. After interval, Flinders Quartet gives a performance of Schubert’s seminal work, which will never be heard in the same way again!
